Sunmark Publishing Rights Highlights
and NEWS Mail--March 2019 Issue

Hello. I’m Akiko Kuwajima, a book editor and a staff member in the Rights Department at Sunmark.

Have you seen the new Netflix program that started on New Year’s Day this year, Tidying Up With Marie Kondo? It suddenly seems to have become a sensation all over the world.

Earlier, I helped editing the book titled The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story, by Marie Kondo. A cartoonist named Yuko Uramoto drew the cartoons for it. A main character in this book is a 29-year-old young woman, single, named Chiaki Suzuki, whose life changed dramatically after she met Marie, who taught her how to clean up her messy room, how to fold clothes, and so on.

You can learn how to fold clothes and how to put things neatly in order by reading this fully illustrated book.

After watching the Marie Kondo’s Netflix programs, I felt like doing tidying up too!

London Book Fair 2019

For the first time, we’ll have a stand this year at the London Book Fair, from March 12th to 14th.  We’d love to introduce our latest rights list to you. If any of you who are going to London and interested in our books, please do contact us.  We still have plenty of slots available at the fair!

Tidying Up is back again!

First published in Japan in 2011, then in the United States and the U.K. in 2014, the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and its author Marie Kondo became household names throughout the world. The book was translated into 42 languages and sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.

Several years after her sensational debut, she’s now back on the bestseller list, ranked 2nd in The New York Times “Advice, How-To & Miscellaneous” category for the week of January 28th, marking its 149th week on that list.

This happy event was spurred on by the successful release of the original Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, which first aired right on New Year’s Day, the start of 2019, a day of the year when so many of us make New Year’s resolutions and are motivated to keep them.

For those who haven’t yet read the book, it’s an ideal time to get it and start reading about this unique way to change your life by tidying up your personal space.

If you could have any life you wanted, what kind of life would you wish for? Perhaps a peaceful life rid of worry? Or how about a stimulating life in which you could do whatever you wanted each day? This book will help you realize these “dreams” right away. The information in this book is not groundless or fake. This groundbreaking book explains the science behind the realization of our dreams based on quantum mechanics.

Comments from those who attended the author’s seminars include expressions of gratitude:

“I made amends with my parents after decades of not being able to forgive them.”

“We rekindled the passion in our marriage!”

“I escaped being overworked and am now doing what I love.”

“I’ve started to receive many lecture requests and coverage requests from the media.”

“My incurable disease was cured.”

This may seem too good to be true. But the reality is that numerous people are living their dream lives, free of work, money, family, and even health-related troubles.

So, what exactly needs to be done? This book says the answer is “spontaneous oscillation.”

We are unable to see our consciousness or emotions, but they are all being emitted as “waves.” Even if we don’t let things out verbally, our consciousness and emotions reverberate in the form of waves, affecting the world around us. Depending on how these waves are emitted, we can change our world a thousand times over.

No matter who you are, or how hard your life is, your life can change drastically, and that all depends on how you resonate.
This all has to do with “spontaneous oscillation.”

One important factor is what wave frequency you are emitting. There are a variety of characteristic frequencies. People who emit a high wave frequency are happier than those who emit a low wave frequency. Those who feel negative about their life are oscillating at a low frequency. But you can still learn how to change this and reform yourself into a person who emits a high frequency. Regardless of age and gender, and no matter what troubles you have, you can live the life you want by improving your “spontaneous oscillation.”

How can we be so certain? It is because this method is based on quantum mechanics.

Using this “spontaneous oscillation” method, a number of people have already realized their dreams in just under two hours. I encourage you to do just as the book says.

There are many approaches relating to becoming self-aware and finding success, but the spontaneous oscillation methods introduced by teacher and lecturer Daisuke Muramatsu are like no other. It’s easy and anyone can get started right away. Many people might shy away from words like “quantum mechanics,” thinking this book will be difficult to understand. I felt the same way at first. However, Muramatsu’s words are easy to grasp. His ability to explain in simple terms comes from having taught these same methods to elementary school children in cram schools. This book is especially for those who think they are too busy to pick it up, or that this book will be too difficult for them to understand.

Daisuke Muramatsu

Daisuke Muramatsu is the representative director of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). He was born in Gunma Prefecture in 1975. After graduating from The University of Tokyo Faculty of Engineering, he returned home to work for his father’s metal manufacturing company. He soon hit a wall as things were not going well for him. Looking to escape reality, he traveled overseas to India to bathe in the Ganges River and see the Dalai Lama. He also went to Tibet, not speaking to a single person for a week from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. as he focused on self-reflection and introspection. However, it was all in vain, as his work situation and relationships with coworkers didn’t improve. After working for 13 years, he eventually suffered from depression.  He later learned at a seminar he attended that improving your relationship with yourself is more important than improving your relationships with others. After this, he focused on taking better care of himself, and his relationships with coworkers improved in a week. He also beat depression. This led him on a quest to find out how one’s life is determined. In the process, he came across the “small world” rule as quantum mechanics, and learned that people’s reality is determined by their oscillations.

He established the brain power development school Kaika in March of 2013. Rather than improving academic skills, it is a tutoring school that advocates a quantum mechanics-based program aiming to develop brain power through “spontaneous oscillation.” It saw immediate results, as many students became top in their grades in the five core subjects. “Spontaneous oscillation” has also brought his students success in sports, with them having been Japan representatives for fencing, competitors in the All Japan Karate Championships, and the All Japan Table Tennis Championships, and winner of the All Japan Wrestling Championships.

Daisuke Muramatsu receives lecture requests from a number of entities such as schools from elementary to university, corporate training sessions for new employees and management, and ethics committees. He has spoken to over 19,000 people about how to oscillate at a higher frequency, helping to improve their lives. Some success stories include:

“My boyfriend and I wanted to commit suicide, but we became happy in a matter of hours.”

“I no longer feel stress and feel no need to smoke.”

“I no longer needed crutches after just two hours!”

His YouTube seminars have been viewed 500,000 times, and being active across the country has continued to increase his popularity.

  • An extract from the end of the book

I see zazen as a place to throw away our inner trash.

This book is for just that purpose.

In our long lives, we accumulate a lot of trash. When we need a clean slate and to reconnect with ourselves, this book should be opened.

In our daily lives, we can access our inner happiness if we recognize life’s blessings that we take for granted.

The teachings of Zen are all a guide to help us achieve this.

From the editor "Kuwaji"

Ryuunji Temple, where Shinsuke Hosokawa is currently posted, is located in Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward. The premises, with its beautifully tended plants, is clean and silent. The zazen session that takes place every Sunday at 6:00 a.m. is so popular that it has been going on for 40 years without a holiday. The Zen sayings that Hosokawa teaches put you into deep thought to the point of tears. With Ayako Taniyama’s drawings, you can experience the essence of Zen. I want to give this book to everyone I care about.
