Summer is coming and people are starting to enjoy the outdoors and making last-minute schedules for their summer vacations.

For us in Japan, large firework displays are one of the popular features of summer. There are different fireworks depending on the area of the country, and here in Tokyo, the Sumida River Fireworks Festival is one of the most famous and large-scale fireworks festivals. About 20,000 fireworks are set off in this festival, and we can view the Tokyo Sky Tree (the world’s tallest broadcasting tower) and fireworks together. This year the festival is scheduled for July 29th. Usually close to a million people come to the event, so the stations nearby are always super-crowded, but this is all part of what we enjoy.

There must be different, unique ways to enjoy summer everywhere in the world, and we hope you enjoy this season of the year wherever you are!

Takashi Nagai, born in Toyama Prefecture in 1982, is a Seitai (chiropractic) therapist who heads a Seitai school. He is also the COO of the Japan Enrichment Association. 

 

After graduating from the university, he began working for a venture company, but stress from hard work caused autonomic nerve damage. Losing his career to autonomic ataxia and the early deaths of his father and grandfather helped him fully realize the importance of good health.

 

After struggling with over 100 different rejuvenation methods, he decided to focus on Seitai after experiencing the dramatic effects of American chiropractic. He noticed the hidden strength of the neck in bettering health. His specialty is in autonomic nerves. In a span of about six years, he has treated over 600,000 people including professional athletes and other physicians.  He also provides “self-care” guidance to a number of patients who visit him from surrounding areas and overseas.

Kenichi Sakuma is a personal trainer. He has been the physical trainer for winners of the Miss International, Japan, in international and world pageants, along with top models and many non-celebrities. He has also worked with Miss International models from the US, France and the UK. He often is hired by talent agencies and has experience supervising magazine shoots and TV appearances.

 

He runs a physical training studio called CharmBody, which has locations in Aoyama, Ginza, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukui, Mie, Los Angeles, Singapore and Shanghai. He has been an accomplished trainer since his student days, working with as many as 4,000 clients a year, or about 436 clients in a month. He studied exercise psychology at the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in Colorado.
