A message from the editor:
The author, Kimie Tsuchida, has calluses on her hands. Those calluses are visible evidence of her commitment, because she has acquired them in her reflexology work, bringing relief and healing to patients.
Even so, it's very surprising to learn that you can get the same results from stepping on golf balls as you would from receiving Ms. Tsuchida's reflexology treatments. Reflexology is a complicated form of therapy because there are actually over 60 different types. In this book, these varieties have been condensed to about 10, so they are simple enough that anyone can do them. I myself use reflexology every night, and the effects are excellent. Also, the parts of the body that are sore differ from day to day, and I've realized that this therapy can also be a way to monitor your own health. I strongly encourage all of you to connect with your body through your own feet. You'll definitely get hooked!
Author:Kimie Tsuchida
Ms. Tsuchida was born in 1960, the eldest daughter in the family of a Soto Zen (Buddhist) priest and went through training to become a nun. Against her parents' wishes, she married at the age of 18. She had her first daughter at 19 and her first son at 20. When she was 25, her husband's company went bankrupt, and they had a difficult time raising their two children. From about the age of 30, she alternated between drastic weight gain and weight loss due to stress. When she was 32, she first experienced reflexology treatment at an osteopathic hospital. The following year, she decided that she wanted to make good use of the experiences and struggles she had been through up to that point. With her experience of recovering from sickness through reflexology, Kimie Tsuchida decided to become a reflexology therapist. At 35, she became the general manager at the main Remeister Treatment Centre. Since then, she has administered reflexology treatment to patients for over 15 years. She has had over 30,000 patients and more than 100 students.
In recent years, there has been a sign at the center that says "Depression can be cured through reflexology". This statement is based on the actual results of a majority of patients who have been completely cured of depression. Of utmost importance to Ms. Tsuchida is the personal connection with people. Working from a perspective that's different from that of Western medicine, her goal is to make every one of her patients smile. In her private life, one of her routines is to walk 40 minutes every day, and she is the proud grandmother of four grandchildren.
