Successful Salespeople Don't Beg!
by Akira Kagata
How to become a salesperson people can't wait to buy from
ISBN978-4-7631-3116-4
231 pages
February 2011
1,365 yen

Contents:
The author is a businessman to be reckoned with -- he has a formidable sales record with a 99% success rate. In this book he explains how to close sales deals quickly for anything you want to sell.
The attitude of many salespeople is having customers do them a favor by buying the products they're promoting. But Mr. Kagata defines sales as "the art of introducing people to something whose value you yourself believe in and guiding them to the point where they want you to sell it to them." This book is filled with theories, techniques, and attitudes that will help you become the kind of salesperson who always leaves customers grateful for the sale!

From the Table of Contents:
Chapter 1: The Philosophy -- Sales is about "giving people a chance to buy from you"
Chapter 2: The Theory -- Making prompt sales
Chapter 3: Turning "no" into "yes" -- Don't mistake resistance for a final decision
Chapter 4: The Secret -- Guide people where you want them to go

From the editor:
Although I don't have any experience in sales, it occurred to me that I could apply Mr. Kagata's know-how to my editing work as well. What I found particularly informative were the three secrets outlined in Chapter 4: putting the customer's happiness first, hinting at the obvious, and never giving up. If you master these secrets perfectly, you'll not only get along with other people easily, but you'll also be able to lead them in any direction you want!
About the author:
Akira Kagata
Akira Kagata was born in Wakayama Prefecture in 1946. He now teaches at sales seminars, but he started delivering newspapers when he was in the fourth grade. His experience selling newspapers to the people he met formed the foundation of what would later become the "Kagata sales method".

Mr. Kagata went into the working world when he was 23, and he continually closed deals from the very start. He has worked at 17 companies, including real estate companies and a study-aid book company. He was the top salesman at all those companies and holds a remarkable 99% success rate record. His longest perfect streak (100% success rate) lasted almost one year when he was working at the study-aid book company.
Since 1985, he has been training salespeople to use the Kagata sales method. So far, he has instructed over 30,000 people at more than 800 companies, and he has nurtured numerous excellent salespeople. Companies where he has lectured have reported a doubling of sales, and there are even companies whose sales jumped to ten times their regular volume. He's on his way to becoming a legendary marvel, and people soon will be referring to him as "the god of sales".

Want Better Results? Get Rid of Your Notes!
by Koki Aiba
The more you fuss over taking notes, the more you lose!
Learn an effective note-taking method based on observations of over 3,000 people

167 pages
August 2011

Contents:
What's the most important tool for success in business and in life? The author of this book, Koki Aiba, provides the answer to this question: notes.

Though there is only one way to really use notes, they're the most powerful tool in the workplace and can lead to both success and failure. There are people who place importance on note taking and still don't get results. This is because they use the notes the wrong way. We're raised in a society where we aren't taught the correct way to take notes, yet the instant we join the working world, we're told to take notes for everything and to immediately write down what our superiors tell us.
As a result of faulty note taking, more and more people are unable to be productive.
Notes that are written to be discarded are more effective, and you should practice writing notes that you intend to discard.
Still, though they're going to be thrown away, they shouldn't simply be disposed of.
Discarding the notes involves three steps.

(1) Discarding the information before taking notes
(2) Getting rid of the desire or urge to write notes neatly
(3) Throwing away the actual notes.

The prevailing method, which involves writing lots of notes, carefully organizing, and keeping a record of them, is clearly passive note taking.
By comparison, taking "discard notes" is an active method. You yourself proactively decide to discard the notes. Therefore, if you repeatedly discard your notes yourself, you will naturally begin to take action in your work, of your own volition.
This makes it the most necessary element for producing real results at work.
Written following a study of over 3,000 people, including businesspeople, this book gives a comprehensive and thorough explanation of note-taking methods. It's a book that can change your life dramatically, starting with tiny notes.
From the Table of Contents:
- People with an annual income of 20 million yen or more write very rough notes
- The neater the notes, the poorer the results
- How to write the shortest project proposal
- Five steps to follow when writing "discard notes"
- The more valuable the notes, the sooner you should discard them
- Why note taking was better during the Edo Period
- If you want to realize your dreams, write them down over and over
- Starting from scratch will lead you to discover what you really like

From the editor:
Note taking can bring success to your business and change your life dramatically...
To be honest, the first time I heard what Mr. Aiba had to say about taking notes, I thought, "Is it really all that he claims it is?" I was half-believing and half-doubting it.
However, I was almost embarrassed to discover that his note-taking method is not only sound, but also practical and applicable for everybody. I'm the sort of person who hardly ever throws things away, but after following Mr. Aiba's "Three principles of discarding," I was able to throw away my notes.
When I did that, I actually started working faster and changed for the better. It's been a few months since I changed the way I take notes, and I believe that I'm more confident these days.
I recommend that everyone try writing "discard notes" at least once. You'll also discover why Japanese culture flourished during the Edo Period.
About the author:
Koki Aiba
Koki Aiba is a "discard notes" consultant.
If all the notes he has taken were compiled, they would fill over 12,000 sheets of A4-size paper.
Starting with nothing but a few ideas he jotted down in notes, he worked hard to establish 150 branches that rake in an annual income of three billion yen for the company he works for, making him a notable individual in the business world. Though he was just a low-level salaried employee, by simply changing his note-taking method, he became a professional at starting new businesses and enjoyed success after success and appeared often in the media, on TV programs and in magazines.
Then, in order to systemize the note-taking method that had helped him become a better person, he carried out research for over 10 years, focusing on note taking. He observed the notes of over 3,000 people, including people in business. He added elements from neuroscience and behavioral psychology to formulate the most effective note-taking method.
Mr. Aiba currently holds lectures and seminars where he teaches the skills needed to master the "discard notes" note-taking method. He devotes his energy to helping the people around him realize their dreams. He has acquired the personal free time, valuable contacts, and enormous wealth that he always dreamed of and continues to do his stress-free life work.
