In Japan, July 7th is the day of Tanabata, the Star Festival, when we write our wishes on colorful strips of paper and hang them on bamboo branches. This festival comes from the Chinese legend that the celestial Weaver-Princess and the Cowherd she loved were separated by the Milky Way and can meet only once a year, on this night.

Beginning on the same day, the Tokyo International Book Fair 2011 will be held until the 10th of July. If you are going to attend, we hope you will thoroughly enjoy it. Although Sunmark Publishing will not set up a booth this year, we will be happy to see you at the fair or at our office.

Contents:
Almost as important as the brain is the autonomous nervous system. Although its important role hasn't always been well understood, a stable autonomous nervous system enables breathing, regulates the heartbeat and maintains the healthy condition of our bodies. Being able to control the autonomous nervous system at will would certainly allow us to stay healthy throughout life. Hiroyuki Kobayashi, a renowned doctor and the author of this book, presents concrete methods for controlling the autonomous nervous system. The book also includes numerous case studies and clear explanations. From his experience in advising top athletes and celebrities, he brings us closer to the secret of ultimate health management.

From the Table of Contents:
- Why do women live longer than men?
- Optimize your parasympathetic system--the ultimate health management method
- Why do people catch colds between seasons?
- Walking--much better for you than jogging
- Why did 20-year-old professional golf player Ryo Ishikawa focus on how Tiger Woods walks?
- How imbalances in the autonomous nervous system affect immunity
- For constipation try a cup of water first thing in the morning
- Sleepy after meals? It's about how you eat
- Is it better to exercise in the morning or the evening?
- Change your breathing to change your body right now

From the editor:
Hiroyuki Kobayashi reads three sports newspapers every day. When I asked him why, he said, "The comments from athletes provide hints about the autonomous nervous system." This is why the book includes case studies of athletes, making for exciting reading. Another amazing aspect of this book is that, by explaining the balance of the autonomous nervous system, it answers all the questions people have about why certain practices are healthy. This book contains invaluable, eye-opening information. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

About the book:
"I wanted to have a moving adventure that would encourage people to take courageous action."

This is the first book written by alpinist Nobukazu Kuriki, who conducted live Internet broadcasts from the uninhabitable Death Zone in the Himalayas, 8,000 meters above sea level, in his quest to share his adventure.

The book is about his solo effort to climb Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh highest peak. The book describes how--while on his solitary 8,000-meter climb without bottled oxygen--he learned to achieve his dreams and to never give up. It has been lauded by businesspeople and students alike as a book with practical applications, not just a typical adventure book.

This is a must-read for people who want to know why the author climbed the mountain and risked his life for a live broadcast, and for readers who want to know what he was thinking. It's also for people who still have a goal they would like to achieve.
From the Table of Contents:
- Getting rid of limitations
- My first life-risking climb
- Mt. McKinley, North America's highest peak
- Words that changed my life
- Talking from the roof of the world
- Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world
- Climbing the unseen mountains
- Fulfilling your dreams
- What my father taught me about the power of dreams
- Winning favor
- Staying free
- Mt. Everest--alone and without oxygen

From the editor:
This 27-year-old author is always looking for challenges to accomplish pioneering feats! When I first met him, I couldn't help being impressed. He wanted to do what no one had done before: streaming a live broadcast from an 8,000-meter peak. He collected all the money he needed by himself, using an unusual business strategy that's revealed in this book.
Unlike Mr. Kuriki, I don't have dreams that are big enough to change the world. Even so, I feel that this book gave me the courage to tackle the small challenges in my daily life that I had already given up on. This is a book I would like to give to all of my friends to read.
About the author:
Nobukazu Kuriki
Nobukazu Kuriki was born in Hokkaido in 1982. His small build--162 cm and 60 kg--gives him a lung capacity and muscle mass below that of the average male, but he stayed focused as he climbed six of the highest peaks in the world by himself in three years, before going on to climb three 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas alone and without bottled oxygen. He also does downhill skiing and successfully skied from the summit of Mt. Manaslu in 2007. In the autumn of 2009, he attempted to be the first Japanese climber to reach the summit of Mt. Everest alone and without bottled oxygen, but he gave up at 7,950 meters. With the aim of sharing his adventures, he uploads his videos on the Internet. He currently lectures at schools and businesses as he prepares for his second ascent of Mt. Everest.
